OK, its been a long time since we posted. It’s been a good few months. We have played the Walnut room and recently the Bluebird. Check out our upcoming show at Cervantes Feb 16th with some cool local gothic bands.

We are in the process of working on new music. I purchased a used Korg D1600 off of craigslist so we can just mic everything and go. Seems that the recorder is working as expected, it’s really quite nice. It’s much easier to hit record then setting up a recording session in Cubase on the PC. No monitor to deal with, just arming the channels and hit record. I worked with an ADAT and a Mackie mixer back in the day and this is no different. Working like this is very easy for the creative process. Now the mixes are not entirely studio quality but close enough to get a rough draft and take into the studio. We already have about 7 new songs and once we filter out the good from the bad, expect to have a small EP in the works. No live shows for now. Fuck the Denver scene. We will probably wait a few months before playing out again.

We did have a chance to play the South Park Music festival but that was also a disappointment. We played Friday night but the festival does not really get started until Saturday. Next time, we will only play a Saturday or Sunday there. The manager really liked us though and will invite us back.

I have been having some issues with my Korg and line noise. Found a cheap solution using a noise gate. So when I am not playing there is dead silence. Now to look for a good keyboard amp with three inputs so I can battle for volume domination with the guitarist.

a Verve album. Concentrating on that sound and working on the
songwriting craft could lead to bigger things for the Vergers.

“Gasoline,” proves that somebody in the band owns Black Rebel
Motorcycle Club and Jesus and Mary Chain CDs

“On the Ground” A good tune reminiscent of an old mid-90s band called the Verlaines.

Only time will tell if the Vergers keep working on their craft and
make some noise on the scene or fade into oblivion on the dung heap of
broken band dreams.

We will have another show at The Open Tap with an awesome line up! This is going to be an awesome show with some kick ass bands like New Pleasures, Gloam, and Aloft in the Sundry.

I just recently picked up a novation XIO synth for lead sounds and tweekability and man does this thing live up to the reviews. I only purchased the 25 key version and for leads and occasional poly synth type sounds it does pretty well. Not too impressed with the strings on the unit but thats not why I purchased it. If I want strings, I can use my JP-8008. You can make the XIO synth pretty or nasty sounding and with the X/Y pads and the joystick control you have a lot control over modulation. My live gear currently consists of a Yamaha ES 61 keyboard with the PLG150-AN card for analogue style sounds and a Korg prophecy which is excellent at leads and such.

This is going to be an awesome show. Its a smaller venue but the vibe there is awesome ! There will be good food, cold beer and great bands. What more could you ask for in a night. We are trying to create a scene here, so there will be no generic rock and roll cover bands. I myself am excited to be playing with Gloam (Broken electronic with hints grime and psychedelia)who I think is one of the best bands in Colorado that no one knows about. Also excited to be playing with Apathetic Drive again (Dark atmospheric rock with haunting female vocals). Also hail 200 million years ! This will be one of many shows that we will be putting on in the next few months at The Open Tap. We hope you enjoy. Come out and help build a decent Denver scene once again.

The Vergers are back. We got several shows lined up and are about to get back into the the practice space to start gearing up for the shows. We have been booking shows at The Open Tap (Cafe Ceros) and possibly a show at Benders. Looking forward to be playing with Gloam and a few other awesome Denver Bands.
